Winter Fuel Payment is a one-off tax-free payment that goes into the accounts of some pensioners once a year. Heating can cost hundreds of pounds and be a huge burden on the elderly during the winter months, and this benefit aims to remedy that. Why haven’t I got my Winter Fuel Allowance yet?

The Winter Fuel Allowance can help elderly people to cover the cost of heating during the winter months.

If you were born on or before October 5, 1954, and you lived in the UK for at least one day during the week of September 21 to 27, 2021 (the qualifying week), you qualify for Winter Fuel Allowance.

You may still get the payment if you didn’t live in the UK during that time, as long as you live in Switzerland or an EEA country or have a genuine and sufficient link to the UK.
