Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in northern Italy in the coming days, which might impact this weekends Formula 1Italian Grand Prix.
Showers will move over the Autodromo Nazionale Monza in the night from Thursday to Friday morning. The possibility of rain decreases during the afternoon however, meaning the chances of a (partly) wet track is therefore greater during FP1 instead of FP2.
Sunny Saturday and Sunday
The rest of the weekend looks set to be sunny with temperatures reaching 26 degrees centigrade on Saturday and 27 degrees centigrade on Sunday.
On Saturday the weather picture consists of sun with overcast clouds. In a number of places in northern Italy, these clouds develop into thunderstorms, mostly in the mountain regions.
The chance of these showers reaching the Monza circuit just before or during qualifying in the afternoon is around 10%.
The chance of rain during the race on Sunday in the afternoon is 0%. The sunny weather ensures that the track temperature will be very high, making tyre management even more challenging.
