Teri Hatcher will be celebrating another trip around the sun with the release of her new movie, How to Fall in Love by Christmas, on her upcoming 60th birthday.

“My whole career, I have never had a movie air on my birthday,” Hatcher, 59, exclusively told Us Weekly on Tuesday, November 19, at the It’s a Wonderful Lifetime Event.

Now, Hatcher’s new film premieres on Sunday, December 8 — the same day she will be celebrating a new decade. When it comes to her previous birthday celebrations, Hatcher told Us that she will “normally do nothing.”

“Yeah, it’s just too much. But this birthday I really felt like I wanted to recognize it in the way that I feel like — so my daughter turned 27 this year and I said to her, I go, ‘That feels like a real age. That’s a legit age, 27,’” Hatcher said. “And in a funny way, I feel like 60 is a legit age. And what it makes me conscious of is that the people that I surround myself with — this core [group], we’re going the distance.”

Teri Hatcher is over the dating app scene after recently getting the boot from Hinge. “I’ve tried them all, and I tried my latest one. I tried Hinge,” Hatcher, 59, said during a recent episode of HSN+’s Getting Grilled With Curtis Stone. “You know, I thought, ‘I’m gonna say to the universe that I am […]

She continued, “I have a group of 20 people that we are all going to celebrate in a really special way. I’m just honored that my friends are kind of going above and beyond to celebrate with me. I’m definitely not ignoring it this year.”

How to Fall in Love by Christmas follows Nora (Hatcher) who tries to save her lifestyle brand by penning a column about falling in love by the holidays.

“It’s about a woman who’s the CEO of a company and I think has used that position of work and responsibility to protect herself from having to be vulnerable enough to maybe meet someone and fall in love,” Hatcher explained to Us. “In this scenario that comes her way in the movie, she sort of gets forced out of her comfort zone and into a position where she may or may not actually fall in love — spoiler alert.”

Hatcher noted that she loves how Christmas movies can affect her holiday experience. “I have all my classicsElf, The Holiday, Love Actually,” she said. “I understand that from the viewer side because I, myself, am a Christmas movie watcher. So I like finding the stories that I can be a part of other people’s holidays.”

Hatcher noted that she’s “always” on the hunt for roles that “tell the woman’s story, the aging woman’s story I’m really interested in, without judgment, the choices of how to age and whether that has to do with your exterior appearance or your internal emotional life.”

“I think there’s a lot of us that aren’t married that maybe aren’t getting plastic surgery. And like I said, without judgment. Just continuing to try to find stories that represent women and will either make them feel inspired or less alone or understood,” she continued. “So that’s what I’m looking for. Plus I always love comedy and I think that’s something we definitely need more of.”

How to Fall in Love by Christmas premieres on Lifetime Sunday, December 8 at 8 p.m. ET.
