For International Women’s Day, Shelagh Simmons, Solent WASPI Group coordinator, compiled a collection of the personal experiences of women born in the 1950s.
“I was denied the possibility of studying technical drawing and taking exams in it, despite the fact I could already do it,” one person recalled.
“I’d had thoughts of becoming an architect but our school policy, common back then, denied that to any female.”
