The Miami Grand Prix benefitted $449 million to the local economy through this year’s event, organisers have revealed.
F1 made its first visit to the Hard Rock Stadium last season, with the event building on the solid foundations put in place when the sport returned for its second weekend.
Whilst Red Bull dominated on track with Max Verstappen overcoming a difficult qualifying to beat teammate Sergio Perez to victory, off track, the event pulled through commercially.
Over 270,000 fans visited the Miami International Circuit across the three-day event, with visitor spending topping $195 million across race week.
The event provided over $230 million of construction-related impact on the greater Miami area, with a total local economy benefit of $449 million – underlining just why so many venues are eager to join the F1 calendar.
Diversity and inclusion
The event placed a focus on inclusivity and diversity as part of its offering and organisers have revealed over 200 students from the Miami Gardens area took part in STEM [Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths] projects during race week.
There were also 14 minority-owned vendors that were included in the Miami International Autodrome Food and Beverage programme, providing greater exposure.
