Sir Lewis Hamilton says he remains “great friends” with his former manager Marc Hynes as he restructures his personal management team.

Hynes, who had been chief executive of the Project 44 management company, and the seven-time World Champion recently went their separate ways on a business front for the time being.

It was reported to be an “amicable” split between the 36-year-old driver and one of his closest allies for many years, Hynes also being a former British Formula 3 champion.

But now there are changes taking place within Hamilton’s management set-up as he embarks on his quest to capture an eighth world title both for himself and the Mercedes F1 team.

“Marc is one of my best friends and remains one of my best friends,” said Hamilton, quoted by Motorsport.com. “He’s moving on to do some other great things.

“We’ve had an amazing partnership together and I’m really, really grateful and proud of the work I think we achieved together.

“I’m doing some small restructuring now moving forwards and ultimately there are plans we are working on for the future.

“So there will be someone for this potentially for the short term and I’ll figure it out as I go along.”

In terms of matters on a personal level, Hamilton has also this week spoken about the property in London he is having renovated which he plans to have as a future base in his homeland.

The Stevenage-born driver lived in Switzerland before moving to Monaco in 2012 and also has a home in Colorado.

“Currently, I have no plans on changing where I live. I live in a dream place that all the other drivers live in too, in Monaco,” said Hamilton, who will begin his 15th Formula 1 campaign at the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 28.

“I do have a home in England, which I’m really excited to be finished, so when I do come to England I finally have an anchor.

“A place to call my own, rather than staying in hotels, which is never particularly enjoyable considering I do that a lot throughout the year.

“I think it’s the start of something great and a place I will naturally have my family come to and maybe, in the future, have a family.”
