Romain Grosjean says he has achieved a “victory on my way to recovery” after being discharged from hospital following Sunday’s horror crash at the Bahrain Grand Prix. Grosjean posted an emotional update on Wednesday morning after it was announced he had left the Bahrain Defence Force Hospital.

Grosjean posted a picture of his right hand, which suffered burns in Sunday’s incident.

And the Swiss was almost overwhelmed that he still had full use of his fingers, teasing he is on the road to racing again.

“My right hand this morning,” Grosjean wrote.

“The happiness I had when I was told that I didn’t need the full dressing anymore and could use my finger was huge. Almost cried. A victory on my way to recovery.”

Haas also posted a message on their social media channels.

The statement read: “Haas F1 Team driver Romain Grosjean was discharged from the care of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) Hospital at 10.30am local time Wednesday.

“Grosjean spent three nights in hospital following Sunday’s incident at the Bahrain Grand Prix.

“Grosjean will continue private treatment for the burns suffered on the back of his hands and will remain in Bahrain for the time being.

“On behalf of Romain Grosjean and the entire Haas F1 Team we extend our thanks to all who have tended to him at the BDF Hospital.”
