Rivaldo offers insight into Pep Guardiola mindset as Man City trail title rivals Liverpool | Football | Sport

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola will remain calm and collected throughout his attempt to win a third Premier League title this season, despite the best efforts of Liverpool.

That’s according to Brazilian legend Rivaldo, who insists that Liverpool are not inferior to Guardiola’s City.

Liverpool are currently leading the Premier League title race by eight points, having won all their games this season.

City have already lost twice – to Norwich and Wolves in 3-2 and 2-0 defeats respectively.

But despite the pressure to win a third title on the spin, Rivaldo has said that Guardiola will remain calm.

“Personally, knowing Guardiola having shared the Barcelona changing room with him, I know he is a very calm, experienced and strong person, who knows his players well,” he told Betfair.

“With so many more matches to play in this Premier League title race, I think he knows Manchester City can overturn their eight-point deficit to Liverpool.

“Guardiola has built a great team with an excellent playing style.”

Rivaldo did say, however, that Liverpool won’t give City the opportunities to capitalise as much as they did last season.

Liverpool fell short in last season’s Premier League title race by one point.

“Last season Liverpool also lead the title race by a considerable margin in the middle of the season and then Manchester City was crowned champion,” he said.

“Of course, it won’t happen all the time.

“But he trusts in his team and knows they’re not inferior to Liverpool, so he believes they can recover this situation.

“It he didn’t believe on the team It would be much tougher to produce a comeback.”
