Rangers have been tipped to sell Alfredo Morelos after his latest show of poor discipline. With Steven Gerrard’s men looking to assert an insurmountable lead over Celtic, Gabriel Agbonlahor has told the former Liverpool man to ditch the Colombian to avoid any further distractions.
Rangers have been told to let Morelos leave in the January transfer window after his latest show of indiscipline.
The Colombian will miss two matches after being found guilty of violent conduct against Dundee United.
The referee gave Morelos a yellow card but it has been upgraded to a two-match ban after a judicial review.
Usually, if the officials have dealt with the situation on the pitch, the decision will stand but there is an exception when the offence falls under violent conduct.
Morelos accepted the charge after throwing an elbow into Mark Connolly and Agbonlahor believes it is time for the striker to leave.
The lack of discipline is nothing different by El Bufalo but he always had goals to back up his case.
But he has not scored in the Scottish Premiership for Rangers since September as Kemar Roofe and Jermain Defoe continue to impress.
Despite Morelos failing to hit the net, Gers have steamrolled the league so far and Agbonlahor believes Gerrard does not need any distractions as he looks to build on his lead over Celtic.
“He’s disappointing the manager,” he told Football Insider.
“If I’m Steven Gerrard now, they’ve looked into the incident and changed it to a red card he’ll just be disappointed.
“There’s no reason for him to do it. From the footage I’ve seen, he’s ran put an elbow out when there’s no reason for him to put the elbow out to help his jump.
“I was 100 per cent sure it would be changed to a red card.
“If I’m Steven Gerrard I punish him with a fine and it’ll be a long way back for him to get into the side because Kemar Roofe is in great form and you’ve got Jermain Defoe there.
“I think Steven Gerrard will be upset with him because he doesn’t need these distractions and suspensions because they’re so far ahead of Celtic now he’ll want to keep winning because.
“Steven Gerrard will see this as the perfect chance to win the league and I’m sure Rangers will be heartbroken if they don’t win the league given the position they’re in now.
“If Morelos keeps doing these things it’s something Gerrard will get frustrated with and look to move him on.”
