The latest data shows that the average price for a litre of fuel in the UK rose by 16.6p last month – a rise from 174.8p to 191.4p.

It’s the highest recorded monthly increase since 2000.

This in turn means that the average cost of filling a typical 55-litre family petrol car has risen by more than £9.

Meanwhile, average diesel prices rose by 15.6p per litre, landing at 199.1p at the end of the month.
