Pensioners could be entitled to a weekly boost in their income through Pension Credit. The benefit is paid by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and could help low income pensioners.

Recipients could get up to:

  • £14.48 a week if they are single
  • £16.20 a week if they have a partner

Pensioners could also get extra amounts if they have other responsibilities and costs, such as caring responsibilities or disabilities.

How to claim

Claims for Pension Credit can be submitted online via the official Government website.

People can also apply by calling the Pension Credit claim line at 0800 99 1234.

To apply by post, pensioners can print out and fill in the Pension Credit claim form or call the claim line to request a form.

The completed claim form should be sent to the Pension Service.

Applicants will have their income assessed when applying to determine whether they are eligible for support.
