If there’s one team in the Premier League who can afford it, then it’s United.
The club already have an unfortunate reputation for paying over the odds when it comes to transfers in recent years.
But on current evidence, it’s hard to dispute with Moyes’ verdict that a sum like that would represent a bargain for Rice’s signature.
And given how fragile United’s midfield has linked in recent weeks, it’s pretty much impossible to put a price on what Rice could bring Solskjaer’s side.
If it wasn’t already evident, Solskjaer and his team should be doing whatever it takes to sign Rice this summer.
He may have evolved into the complete midfielder over the past few months, but even before that, he was everything United have needed for the majority of Solskjaer’s reign.
The fact that he’s now so much more than that is an added bonus for United – no matter the price.
