NSW Nationals are ‘as left-wing as Matt Kean’ when it comes to coal

Former Labor senator Stephen Conroy says the Nationals in New South Wales are “as left-wing as Matt Kean” when it comes to coal mining.

It comes after Deputy Premier Paul Toole revealed he does not support new coal exploration zones being created in the central west of the state.

“So when Scott Morrison tries to run this scare campaign about jobs, that Labor will cost you jobs and we’ll protect your jobs, no he won’t because … he doesn’t control the process, the licences, the approvals,” Mr Conroy told Sky News host Paul Murray.

“All of that is done by Matt Kean and his friends in NSW when it comes to NSW.

“So I think it will be very hard for Scott Morrison to run those lines.”
