Lando Norris enjoyed an exciting weekend at his home race in Britain, and just a few days after climbing from his McLaren it’s time for the next round of the 2022 season.

The British driver finished sixth in front of his adoring fans, all adorned in papaya hats and shirts and chanting his name, and he is confident there will be a very similar sight this time out too.

“It was great to see so many people in papaya this past weekend and I’m buzzing to see all the orange in the crowd this weekend, clearly there supporting McLaren…” he joked, ahead of a weekend that will see the crowd heavily populated by orange-clad Dutch fans.

With round ten now firmly behind him, the excitement is building for the Austrian event at the Red Bull Ring where the drivers will race in the first Sprint of the season.

“I’m really excited to be back in Spielberg for the Austrian Grand Prix,” he said. “It’s a Sprint and it’s one of my favourites on the calendar so it’s shaping up to be a nice weekend.”

Norris: There’s always a great atmosphere

While Norris had hoped for a podium finish in his home race, he does not believe that will be on the cards for him this coming Sunday.

But he is hoping to score some very valuable points to add to his steadily building tally that his him an impressive seventh in the standings.

“Whilst we may not necessarily be fighting for podiums like in the last two years, there is definitely an opportunity for some good points and to have some fun battles,” he said.

“There’s always a great atmosphere and I’m hoping to build on my solid performance at Silverstone. We do still have a lot of work to do but we keep pushing forward and we keep fighting.”
