Newcastle have been tipped to sign Erling Haaland and Raheem Sterling by former player Warren Barton. It’s a brand new era over on Tyneside, with Mike Ashley no longer in charge. And the Toon now have the potential to be one of the best clubs in the entire Premier League.
Newcastle are now rich, with the Toon’s new Saudi owners having over £350billion to their name.
As a result, there’s immediately been talk of the Magpies signing some of the biggest and best players in the land.
And Barton, speaking to talkSPORT, has endorsed potential deals for Sterling and Haaland.
“Haaland, I think long term he’s aggressive, he scores goals, he’s right up my alley,” he said.
“He’s someone I would like to have, you haven’t got to worry about his temperament, you haven’t got to worry because of his upbringing with his dad he knows England and the philosophy, and I love him.

It’s hard to see either player taking the No 4 shirt. However, given it’s available, they may have no choice in the matter.
It was previously worn by Matty Longstaff before he joined Aberdeen back in the summer transfer window.
But it’s been worn by club heroes Kevin Nolan, Noberto Solano and Yohan Cabaye in the past.
Haaland would, in an ideal world, wear the No 9 jersey.
But, given that’s occupied by Callum Wilson, he or Sterling may have to accept the No 13 jersey instead.
Previously sported by Wilson in the 2020/2021 campaign, it’s not exactly glamorous for now.
The No 15 shirt is also vacant at Newcastle.
Jamal Lewis did initially wear it but, back in the summer, he changed to No 12 instead.
The No 15 isn’t perfect but Solano and Jamaal Lascelles, amongst others, have worn it in years gone by.
Newcastle haven’t had great luck with the No 20 shirt over the years.
Albert Luque never did it justice, while Yoan Gouffran, Florian Thauvin and Remy Cabella never lived up to expectations.
But this is a new era, a new time to make history. And that could appeal to many of Newcastle’s big targets.
Other shirt numbers available

No 25 – Last worn by Jamie Sterry, it’s been worn by duds such as Abdoulaye Faye and Andros Townsend in years gone by.
No 30 – Christian Atsu was the last occupant, with David Edgar and Steven Caldwell, amongst others, wearing it.
Newcastle want the title
Newcastle chief Amanda Staveley has revealed the club will now look to win the Premier League title.
“Newcastle United deserves to be top of the Premier League,” she told Sky Sports.
“We want to get there. It will take time, but we will get there.
“We’re proud to be part of the Premier League. It’s an incredibly competitive league, which we love.
“Premier League football is the best in the world, and Newcastle United is the best team in the world.
“We want to see it get those trophies, obviously. At top of the Premier League, in Europe, but to get trophies means patience, investment, time.
“We want everybody to
