New Labor government wants to ‘change the tone’ of parliament

Assistant Defence Minister Matt Thistlethwaite says the new government wants to “change the tone” of parliament.

“Instead of making it a chamber where we are constantly arguing over things, we want to try and bring Australians together and create a bit more of a collegiate atmosphere where we are working together,” he told Sky News host Erin Molan.

“And I think the classic example of that is that we’ll have a job summit later this year where we will bring together businesses, unions, government to try and work on how we can come together and deal with some of the economic challenges that we have.”
