From April 1, 2021, the hourly rates for the minimum wage have been as follows:
- Age 23 or over – £8.91 (National Living Wage)
- Age 21 to 22 – £8.36
- Age 18 to 20 – £6.56
- Age under 18 – £4.62
- Apprentice – £4.30
Those who find they are not being paid what they are entitled to can complain via the Government’s official website.
They may also be able to gain support from the Acas Pay and Work Rights Helpline, who may transfer the call to HMRC.
Recently, the Low Pay Commission (LPC), an independent body advising the Government on the minimum wage, found the risk of underpayment of wages is increasing.
