Binotto, Ferrari’s Managing Director and Team Principal, has confirmed that both Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc will be the team’s driver’s next season.

The Formula One season is currently in the midst of its annual summer break and speculation has been circulating around potential driver moves for 2020.

Mercedes are currently dominating the F1 season, with Ferrari 150 points off Mercedes in the constructors standings and Vettel lagging behind current leader Lewis Hamilton in fourth place in the drivers standings.

As a result, Vettel had been linked with a move back to previous team Red Bull, where the German driver won all four of his Formula One World Championships.

However, Vettel’s boss Binotto has categorically denied that the 32-year-old will depart Ferrari next season.

“We have a couple of high-level drivers and I see no reason why we have to change anything,” Binotto said.

“Both have a contract and there is no doubt that Vettel will be with us in 2020.

“Charles is in his first year with Ferrari and there is a lot of pressure.

“He has made some mistakes but he is all about learning and not repeating them.”

Ferrari will be desperate to improve next season as they are currently the only one of the top three teams to have not won a Grand Prix yet.

Leaders Mercedes have won 12 through Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas and Red Bull have won two through Max Verstappen.

Vettel has had a poor season by his standards, making several high profile mistakes recently and will be desperate to atone next season.

The German had been rumoured to be contemplating retirement but Vettel played down those rumours, saying: “I’m here. I love racing.

“I think the cars are great fun to drive, they’re very fast – the fastest we’ve ever had. Can we do better? I think yes. Is it up to me? Fortunately not.

“But, as I said before, we’ll see what the future brings.

“But I’m here now and as far as I know I’ll be here next year, so I’m not thinking about that.”
