Manchester United have decided they’ll give Raphael Varane the wages he wants, it has been claimed. The France international is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top transfer target following the arrival of Jadon Sancho. And John Murtough is currently working on a deal as the Red Devils look to win the Premier League title next time out.
Manchester United have already enjoyed a flying start to the summer transfer window.
With the Glazers determined to mend relations with fans following the European Super League fiasco, the Americans have decided to press their foot on the accelerator as they seek a return to past glories.
Sancho has already been snapped up, with the 21-year-old touching down from Borussia Dortmund.
And United want Varane to follow, with Solskjaer eyeing an upgrade on the likes of Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly, Axel Tuanzebe and Phil Jones.
The Real Madrid star is eager to leave the Bernabeu behind, having decided to embark on a new challenge elsewhere.
And journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed United will meet Varane’s wage demands in order to get a deal over the line.

It’s previously been reported that the 2018 World Cup winner wants wages close to £400,000-a-week, a salary that would make him the best-paid player at the club.
But United may be able to convince the France international into accepting less, especially if their own offer is significant better than Madrid’s.
Real don’t want Varane to follow Sergio Ramos out of the exit door.
But it’s a prospect they’re having to face and there’s a realisation over in Spain that they’d be better off cashing in now, instead of losing him for nothing next year.
United last raided Real for Angel Di Maria in 2014.
Yet they’ll be hopeful Varane can fare significantly better than the Argentina international, who toiled for 12 months before joining Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.
United’s interest in Varane was recently endorsed by Nicky Butt, who thinks the veteran can help his old side end their wait for the league title.
“For me, next season has to be about getting some silverware back in that trophy cabinet for Manchester United,” Butt said.
“It’s about getting the right players who will allow you to challenge for trophies.
“It’s a winning club, so we can’t go this long without silverware.
“The biggest thing that needs addressing for me at Manchester United this summer is that centre-back position; we need a partner for Harry Maguire.
“It has to be someone that’s going to be compatible with Maguire.
“If you spend the kind of money you did on Harry Maguire, you then have to follow it up by bringing someone in who can play with him.
“He’s the club captain; Victor Lindelof is too similar to him. It needs to be someone with pure, blistering pace, someone who can play out from the back.
“Everyone talks about Raphael Varane. I understand he’s a little bit older than most people would perhaps like, but you just have to go back to the days of Teddy Sheringham.
“I think we bought him when he was 32, and we went and won the treble with him. If Varane is available, then I’d go all out for him.”
