Manchester United are “being clever” with their pursuit of Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka, according to Bundesliga expert Jan Aage Fjortoft. Goretzka has emerged as a potential target for United if they were to sell Paul Pogba in this transfer window. Pogba is wanted by PSG in a potential £50million swoop.
Pogba has entered the final year of his contract at Old Trafford and reports say he has no intention to sign a new one, despite manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being positive about the Frenchman’s future at the weekend.
Goretzka is also out of contract in the summer of 2022 and wants a huge pay rise at Bayern.
Fjortoft says Goretzka and team-mate Joshua Kimmich want to earn similar amounts to the club’s highest earners.
He told ESPN FC: “You have at Bayern, in the structure of the wages, you have [Manuel] Neuer, you have [Robert] Lewandowski of course, and you have [Thomas] Muller.
