Kieran Trippier is still hopeful of joining Manchester United before the end of the summer transfer window, according to reports. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is now prioritising the signing of a midfielder ahead of a right-back. United are set to sign Raphael Varane from Real Madrid after agreeing personal terms with the Frenchman.
That is because there is increased uncertainty around the future of Paul Pogba.
Pogba is out of contract at United at the end of the upcoming season and is a target of Paris Saint-Germain.
If Pogba was to leave in this window, United would need to replace him and therefore see it as more of a pressing matter than signing Trippier.
France teenage midfielder Eduardo Camavinga and West Ham star Declan Rice are both targets for the Red Devils.
