Man Utd have ideal Jan Oblak transfer swap as John Murtough talks planned | Football | Sport

Manchester United already have an ideal transfer swap in place as they look to sign Jan Oblak this summer. The Slovenia international is keen on a move to the Premier League while David de Gea could return to his boyhood club.

United could use De Gea in a swap deal to sign Oblak from Atletico Madrid this summer with talks already planned.

The Slovenia international has told his representatives that he is eyeing a move to the Premier League this year, according to ESPN.

It has seen a number of teams take an interest with the 28-year-old regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

One of them included is United, who have seen De Gea lose his first-team spot to Dean Henderson in recent weeks.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a big fan of the Englishman while there are signs De Gea is declining, despite an unbelievable display against AS Roma in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, Oblak has two years left on his contract at the Wanda Metropolitano and has a release clause of €120m.

Atletico insist that they do not want to lose the goalkeeper with him an integral part of Diego Simeone’s team.

ESPN further report that financial pressures may force the Spanish club’s hand in the transfer market after their income took a hefty hit.

Signing Oblak would almost certainly spell the end for De Gea at Old Trafford, whose future may be over at the club anyway.

The 30-year-old is planning talks with Solskjaer and football director John Murtough at the end of the season to discuss his next move.

He currently earns £375,000-a-week, making him the best-paid goalkeeper in the world and has two years left on his deal.

But the Spain international does not want to play second-fiddle to Henderson, which is becoming more prevalent.

However, finding another club that could match his current wages would be highly unlikely during this Covid pandemic.

Using De Gea in a swap deal with Oblak could be the best deal for all parties, though Atletico would need help paying his salary.

United could be the only option for the Atletico star if he chooses to move to the Premier League.

Ederson and Alisson are firmly first-choice at Manchester City and Liverpool respectively while Edouard Mendy has impressed at Chelsea.

Arsenal and Tottenham would find it hard to convince Oblak to sign while also not having the funds necessary.
