Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reacted to the club agreeing a deal for Raphael Varane. The Red Devils drew 2-2 with Brentford on Wednesday night. And they’re hopeful of announcing the Real Madrid star as their latest recruit soon.
Manchester United announced on Tuesday night that they’d agreed a deal in principle to sign Varane.
The Real Madrid star has been on the club’s radar for a decade, with interest dating back to Sir Alex Ferguson’s time in charge at Old Trafford.
United have already signed Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton and, now, the France international is poised to become their third signing of the summer transfer window.
And Solskjaer, speaking after his side’s 2-2 draw with Brentford on Wednesday, has now hailed the imminent signing.
“Of course, very happy that we’ve managed to get a deal with Real Madrid,” he said.
“Medical should hopefully be OK. He’s a proven winner, a player we’ve followed for many years.”

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed United are interested in Eduardo Camavinga.
He said: “Manchester United are really interested in Eduardo Camavinga – they love the player.
“United have been in direct contact with people close to Camavinga and with Rennes to understand the price – which is around €35-40m.
“Manchester United need to make a decision on midfielders, which is why the situation with Eduardo Camavinga is still quiet.
“This is also because Camavinga is not in a rush – he’s out of contract in a year so he’s still waiting to pick the best solution.
“Eduardo Camavinga would love Premier League football but he knows that next summer he will have many clubs joining the race to sign him as a free agent – including Real Madrid, Barcelona and many other clubs, so it will be an open race.

“As of now, Manchester United are still in direct contact for Eduardo Camavinga and are looking at the situation – but are not progressing.
“In the next days we will see what United decide.”
And Saul Niguez is also under consideration.
“Saul Niguez is a player that Manchester United have always appreciated – he’s considered a top midfielder,” he added.
“Niguez is on the market for Atlético Madrid in case they receive a bid of around €40-45m. As of now, United have been quiet on this.
“Manchester United have been calling for Saul Niguez, as well as Liverpool and Chelsea, asking about his situation.
“However, only if Niguez’s move to Barcelona definitively collapses, United and other English clubs will decide whether to open real talks.”
