Christmas is a time of merriment, but one thing that doesn’t spark much joy over the festive period is, of course, the old bank balance.
However, there are ways that you can celebrate the yuletide without finding yourself out of pocket, and one way is by buying your Christmas dinner vegetables from Lidl.
The affordable supermarket have slashed the prices on all their festive veg to just 15p, meaning you can purchase all the vegetables you need to make a delicious meal for just 75p.

And the best part is they are all home grown, so you will be supporting British farmers in the process.
From 17 December they will be reducing the price on British Mini Roasts (1.5kg), British Carrots (1kg), British Parsnips (500g), British Red Cabbage, and, of course, the controversial, but nevertheless essential, British Brussel Sprouts (500g).
All this can be yours for the penny-pinching price of 75p.
The deal will last until 26 December, but if you’re anything like us you will be firmly in a food coma and unable to visit supermarkets after Boxing Day anyway!
Ryan McDonnell, Chief Commercial Officer at Lidl, said: “This year more than ever, we want to ensure shoppers can enjoy the highest quality produce for the best value price.
“As we look forward to Christmas and the New Year our customers can rely on the fact we will never be beaten on price.”
Meanwhile, if you don’t have Lidl near you, there is no need to worry, as Aldi are also selling affordable greens.
On offer in their stores, which also begins on 17 December, include parsnips (500g) for 19p, Brussels sprouts (500g) for 19p, potatoes (2.5kg) for 28p, red/white cabbage (each) for 28p, swede (each) for 28p and carrots (1kg) for 19p.
Not bad at all….
