Reports coming out of Spain recently claimed that Madrid had lodged a staggering £71m bid for the England international – which would be a world-record fee for a full-back.
Diego Simeone is eager to acquire a left-back this summer to replace French World Cup winner Lucas Hernandez, who is joining Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

But according to Leicestershire Live, the Wanda Metropolitano outfit have yet to make the big-money bid for the 22-year-old.
Chilwell, who is under contract until 2024, is likely to attract interest from a host of Europe’s top clubs in the transfer window after yet again shining for the Foxes in the Premier League.
But Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers will be desperate to keep his star players as he looks to build a squad capable of pushing for a European spot during his first full season in charge at the King Power Stadium.
