Kylian Mbappe issues Jurgen Klopp ultimatum to Real Madrid in major Liverpool worry | Football | Sport

Kylian Mbappe has reportedly told Real Madrid he won’t join them unless they replace Carlo Ancelotti with Jurgen Klopp. Mbappe came close to signing for Madrid in the summer and appeared set to make the move to Spain once his PSG deal expires at the end of this season.

However, El Nacional claim the striker has reservations about joining them after being left ‘disappointed’ with how they’ve performed under Ancelotti this campaign.

The same report states that the France World Cup winner has given an ultimatum to Madrid by telling them he will only join if they hire Klopp as manager.

That will cause a huge concern for Liverpool, with the club desperate to keep hold of the man who guided them to Premier League and Champions League successes in recent years at least until the end of his deal in 2024.

Madrid tried to sign Mbappe in the summer but saw a number of offers rebuffed, including one worth £171million, despite the player making it clear to PSG that he wouldn’t be signing a new contract with them.

It was expected that Mbappe would open talks with Madrid on a pre-contract agreement in January, but that could now weigh-on the club’s stance on hiring Klopp.

Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer explains dropping Marcus Rashford for Man City clash

“They have made winning look easy but the truth is that it is never easy.

“Performances, like they have been having, don’t just happen.

“To be as ruthless as they have been would come from lots of hard work in training and from having a very good manager.”

Madrid are said to be admirers of Klopp but are pessimistic about their chances of pinching the German boss from Liverpool.

Klopp addressed his Liverpool future last month and appeared to rule out leaving before his contract expires.

“I’m pretty sure I’m the coach who is most often asked what he is doing after his career!” he said. “Will you do that?’, ‘Will you manage Germany?’, ‘Will you do this?’. What?! I still have three years at Liverpool!” he said.

“That’s a long, long time actually in football, and I hope that we are as successful as somehow possible in our time here.

“I am not even with one toe in the period after my career.

“I am fully here, full of energy, I want to go as far as possible. And let’s see where we can end up.”
