Is F1 at risk of alienating fans with its quest for a show?

Formula 1 welcomed its 77th different venue on Sunday with the inaugural Miami Grand Prix.

After 57 laps around the Miami International Autodrome, Max Verstappen took the spoils, overtaking both Ferraris to claim his third win of 2022.

But while Verstappen’s win was cheered to the echo by a capacity crowd, much of the attention surrounding the weekend was given to the celebrities, well-wishers and hangers-on that thronged the paddock. Is F1 is focusing too much on the show and not enough on the actual racing?

With Ferrari and Charles Leclerc having lost the last two races to Verstappen and Red Bull, will the Scuderia’s raft of updates see them bounce back next time out in Spain?

And with Miami set to be joined on the F1 calendar by Las Vegas next year, what does the influx of glamorous street races mean for the Monaco Grand Prix?
