A stretcher was then requested, with some Hungary players growing increasingly frustrated with the pace that those carrying the equipment walked towards their teammate. Some players were spotted pushing those members of staff forward in the hope of accelerating the process, with others holding up the blanket around the Ferencvárosi TC forward.
After a ten-minute stoppage, Varga was stretchered off of the pitch and play continued. Hungary went on to win the match 1-0 in dramatic fashion, with winger Kevin Csoboth coming off of the bench to bag a 110th-minute winner – he celebrated by ripping off his shirt before holding up a Varga shirt towards the crowd.
