Sky News host Paul Murray says ageism is on the rise in Australia’s healthcare industry as many elderly people are being dismissed from their needs due to their age which is “never okay”.
“Half of all older people have experienced ageism by doctors, including by being denied treatment, disrespected, discriminated against,” Mr Murray said.
“The worst bias has been against senior patients, is apparently for joint replacements, cancer, or sexual health, put simply in many cases, someone somewhere turns around and says … you’re too far gone.”
