David Draper is the first to admit that his Adelaide home deceivingly modest exterior.

But step inside, and you will most likely never want to leave.

Or so the story goes for Mr Draper and his partner Luke when they first set foot in the multi-level home at 12 Crowther St, Adelaide, three-and-a-half years ago.

The couple instantly fell in love with the home’s versatile floorplan and, most importantly, a spacious rooftop terrace, complete with a spa, two pavilions, a fully equipped bar, seating and heating.

“When the place came to the market…we looked through and knew instantly that we had to have it. It was everything we wanted from a home,” Mr Draper says.

“It’s very much an entertainer’s delight and we’ve had many parties at the home.

“Every year we would host Christmas parties there and we’d easily fill the rooftop terrace with 80 people.

“It’s fully sound wired and has a bar, so you could easily turn that space into a mini, private nightclub if you wanted to.

“We’ve had many fun times at night and even now, I get almost daily text messages from friends wanting to come over – usually the message just reads “wine?”.”

Of course, the property’s unique appeal doesn’t stop there.

Spanning across 410sqm of living space, the three-level home has been divided into living and sleeping quarters.

While the top level is dedicated to rooftop entertaining, the second floor boasts a central living space and three bedrooms — the master extra-large with a walk-in robe, a private balcony, and an ensuite with a shower, dual vanities and a toilet. “We did some improvements to the home to suit our style, including the kitchen,” Mr Draper said.

“We were aiming for a warehouse-style feel across the property, without losing that homeliness you get throughout, but still adding a pop of colour.

“So we decided to add a graffiti wall to the kitchen.

“All our friends love it. It’s a talking point and it also comes with strip lighting underneath which really makes it pop.”

Other improvements to the home included new carpets, curtains, fixtures and fittings, and underfloor heating.

The home also comes with electronic front gates, an alarm and video intercom, and a double garage with rear lane access.

Mr Draper says as stunning as the property is, it was time to start a new adventure.

“We’re definitely going to miss living here but I hope – no, I’m certain that someone will feel the way we did when we first walked through the home,” he says.

“I think the home would be perfect for young professionals or even retirees, wanting something close to the CBD.

“You’re literally five minutes from everything, including The Central Market.”
