When an Italian journalist asked Daniel Ricciardo if he would leap into the trackside lake like Crocodile Dundee if he were to win this weekend, Sebastian Vettel chimed in with his impression of Paul Hogan. Seems he’s a better at driving than accents.

The duo were among a handful of drivers addressing the media on Thursday when the left-field question was posed.

“Make sure you do’t take your knife with you,” Vettel said with a huge grin on his face. “You know Crocodile Dundee when he says ‘that’s not a knife, this is a knife’.”

Flashing his famous pearly whites, Ricciardo replied “When foreigners try and do an Aussie accent I notice they really open their mouth a lot…he tried, bless him.”

Ricciardo needed to compose himself before adding. “I might need some help from some others this early in the season, but there’s a chance (of a win) for sure.

“A chance for some overtakes … I think early on there won’t be too many front- row starts, there will certainly be some cars in front.

“A win might be optimistic but being the hunter I think that’s still going to be a lot of fun this year.”
