The Jeddah Corniche Circuit is playing host to its fourth Grand Prix this weekend, with Free Practice 2 set to be the most representative of all the practice sessions.
Unlike both FP1 and FP3, FP2 gets underway under the lights and is the closest session to the start of the race on Saturday evening – meaning the 60-minute session is crucial for drivers and teams to gain data to use in their race pace simulations.
Max Verstappen ended the first session fastest, but only by a tenth from Fernando Alonso, with Sergio Perez, George Russell and Charles Leclerc all within half-a-second of the World Champion.
Lewis Hamilton was only eighth, 0.577s down on the 1:29.659 that was the Verstappen benchmark – but can anyone launch a surprise in the race pace simulations to come?
