UEFA are investigating alleged monkey noises chanted towards England players during the Three Lions’ 1-0 win over Serbia on Sunday evening.

According to the Mirror, monkey noises were audible inside the Veltins Arena as England battled with Serbia.

No action was taken on the night, but UEFA have now announced a probe into the matter.

“Throwing of objects, Art. 16(2)(b) DR. Transmitting a provocative message unfit for a sports event, Art. 16(2)(e) DR. The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) will decide on the matter in due course. Furthermore, an UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector will conduct a disciplinary investigation regarding alleged discriminatory behaviour.”
