The Microsoft Store has once again blown the lid on an upcoming title. This time, it’s Crytek’s Crysis Remastered which not only got its release date leaked but screenshots and a whole trailer to boot! According to the store listing, the remaster will launch next month, July 23rd. You can watch the trailer here!
Earlier this year, Crytek first announced that the company’s arguably most popular game was getting a remaster after heavy teases and leaks by industry insiders. With Crysis still being talked about as one of the most infamous tech showcases well over a decade since its original release, people were naturally eager to learn more about the scope of Crysis Remastered.
It became quickly clear that while visual improvements were being done, Crysis Remastered would be closer to the original and not once again aim for the crown of visual excellence. There’s nothing wrong with that of course and the “Remastered” suffix already openly discloses the goal of the project. Bring back a cult PC shooter to modern audiences with some extra bells and whistles.
The classic first person shooter from Crytek is back with the action-packed gameplay, sandbox world, and thrilling epic battles you loved the first time around – now with remastered graphics optimized for a new generation of hardware.
Today’s leak gives more insight into the extent of the remaster by showing screenshots and a full trailer! As expected, Crysis Remastered still looks beautiful 13 years later but it obviously isn’t as jawdropping as it used to be. And one has to keep in mind that Crytek is targeting even the comparably weak Nintendo Switch handheld as a target platform.
But thankfully, the game itself should be plenty of reason enough for current audiences with its timeless mix of stealth action in semi-open levels where it’s really up to the player to decide how to tackle each combat scenario.
