Ronaldo and Fernandes will be team-mates for United this season in the wake of the former’s sensational return to the club.
The former Juventus star’s move was confirmed on deadline day, generating mass excitement.
And without Ronaldo, United may not even have had Fernandes.
It was on the advice of the 36-year-old that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer pressed ahead with plans to sign the midfielder from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, having missed out on Erling Haaland.
And Solskjaer, speaking last year, said: “We’ve got the chief scouts who do all the scouting, we’ve got the analysts who analyse and break everything down to a minutest detail.

And how the pair perform on the same pitch together remains to be seen.
Fernandes, ever since his move to United, has been nothing short of sensational.
He scored an impressive 12 goals from 22 appearances before the end of the 2019/2020 campaign, helping his side qualify for the Champions League in the process.
And, last term, the playmaker bagged a remarkable 28 goals across all competitions as the Red Devils finished second in the table.
Fernandes, certainly, is excited about playing alongside Ronaldo at club level.
“We know that enthusiasm will be high, everyone knows Cristiano and is very happy and confident to have him back,” he said.
“Us players are part of that confidence, we know what he can give us.
“Our focus and Cristiano’s, because of what I’ve already talked to him about, is to win what there is to win.
“Our goals remain and obviously, with Cristiano, we have one more reference to help us get closer to that.”
And Ronaldo feels he’s made the right decision to join United.
“I think it’s the best decision that I have made it. It’s right on point in my opinion,” said the veteran.
“I moved from Juve now to Manchester, it’s a new chapter.
“I’m so happy and glad, and I want to carry on again, to make history, to try to help Manchester achieve great results, to win trophies and number one of them, to win great things.”
Ronaldo scored just one hat-trick for United.
And that was against Newcastle, who he is expected to make his second debut against on Saturday.
