If the Norwegian does secretly want to leave BVB this summer, he is certainly doing them a favour by driving a hard bargain and not expressing his desire to do so.

If the transfer saga runs into 2022, which looks increasingly likely with every failed manoeuvre by Chelsea, it should evolve into a gargantuan affair.

With Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea and Real Madrid all heavily rumoured to be interested, Juventus are supposedly the latest to join the party with Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract due to expire in 2022.

At that point, Haaland’s release clause of around £65million would become active, putting virtually every top club in Europe on high alert.
