Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel will be over the moon to welcome N’Golo Kante back to first-team training this week. The France international had been missing through a positive Covid test.
Chelsea star Kante has returned to first-team training to give Tuchel a timely boost.
The Blues ace is a crucial part of the squad in west London and had already missed some big matches this season.
The France international has been absent after returning a positive Covid test prior to the 1-0 loss at the hands of Juventus in the Champions League.
It meant that the midfielder had to complete a period of self-isolation but that has changed over the international break.
The Covid test also meant that he could not travel with France for matches this week, including an entertaining 3-2 win over Belgium in the Nations League semi-final.
But Kante is now back in training after returning to action on Friday, although he has yet to join the rest of the group.
The World Cup winner trained away from the main Chelsea squad and has been working on his fitness ahead of his return to the Premier League.
The 30-year-old was also put through a number of individual drills as Tuchel looks to get him match-fit for the next match against Brentford.
Nevertheless, the German will be ecstatic to welcome Kante back, given how crucial the tireless midfielder has been for Chelsea over the years .
The former Leicester star won the UEFA Midfielder of the Year award after helping the Blues to the Champions League title.
Kante was handed the man of the match award against Manchester City in the final, as well as against Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid on their way to glory.
He was also named on the 30-man shortlist for the 2021 Ballon d’Or, along with four of his team-mates.
His positive Covid test meant Kante has missed two matches, the 1-0 loss to Juventus and the 3-1 win over Southampton in the Premier League.
With many of Chelsea’s players on international duty, Tuchel only had a handful of first-team players in training.
Those present included Hakim Ziyech, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi, while several academy stars were called up to train with the first-team.
