Chelsea news: Kylian Mbappe makes thoughts on Mason Mount clear ahead of Euro 2020 | Football | Sport

Kylian Mbappe has revealed he would like to learn more about Chelsea and England midfielder Mason Mount. The World Cup-winning poster boy of French football has been left intrigued by the attacking midfielder, who has just enjoyed the season of his life having helped Chelsea win the Champions League.

It was a feat that evaded Mbappe in the 2019/20 season when Paris Saint-Germain were beaten 1-0 by Bayern Munich is Lisbon last August.

Mount, who has had to deal with his fair share of criticism, now heads to the European Championships as a key part of Gareth Southgate’s plans.

His performances for Chelsea have brushed aside any question marks regarding his quality and it appears his displays have not gone unnoticed…

In a long interview with France Football, Mbappe was asked to name the three players he would like them to interview next and Mount was a surprise inclusion.

“It’s going to be a tough game,” Mount said when addressing the media. “But I think a lot of the boys have had experience of dealing with this. That tiredness in the legs, you don’t really worry about that.”

Mount’s performance in the Champions League final showcased exactly why Gareth Southgate, Thomas Tuchel and Frank Lampard were all in agreement over the 22-year-old.

His defence-splitting past set up Kai Havertz for the winning goal in Porto as Chelsea got their hands on the trophy.

The Blues ace is set to do battle with team-mate Mateo Kovacic as well as Luka Modric tomorrow afternoon.

Modric was so impressed by Mount’s performance in the Champions League semi-final that he asked the Chelsea playmaker for his shirt after the game.

“He asked for mine in the second game because I didn’t actually give him mine in the first,” Mount said. “Kova said he likes to swap with players, so he came up and said he wanted mine. It was brilliant to speak to him. I was quite overwhelmed.

“He has always been a player that I have looked up to. Ever since he has been in the Premier League with Tottenham, I have watched him quite closely.

“Playing against him, it was weird because I had watched him so much, I kind of knew his moves and what he was going to do.”
