Nketiah joined Leeds on loan from Arsenal on transfer deadline day.

The England Under-21 international scored on his United debut in the Carabao Cup first round victory over Salford City on Tuesday.

And Gary Neville is predicting a successful campaign for the 20-year-old at Elland Road under Marcelo Bielsa.

“Well if you’re going to go on loan I think, if you’re coming from a club like Arsenal, you want to go to a club that’s representative of what you’re going to face,” the Manchester United legend said on Sky Sports.

“Ultimately he will want to go back to Arsenal and play in their first team.

“So to go to Leeds United, who are a big club, play in front of a big crowd every single week, with real pressure on, expectation to go up this season, or every season for that matter in terms of getting promoted out of the Championship.

“So you’re basically going to get exposed to a high level of football in a demanding environment at Leeds United where there’s going to be pressure on under a great coach.

“It’s a win, win, win, win all the way through for Nketiah.

“Ultimately it looks like a great loan signing for him.

“Leeds United will be hoping it pays off for them. It started well tonight.”

Former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson also saw enough of Nketiah on Tuesday to think he will be a good signing.

“I was very impressed with him tonight,” Robinson said.

“I hadn’t seen much of him [before].

“I think he fitted in well, the three of them up front, [Helder] Costa as well.

“They interchanged well, they kept the ball, [Jamie] Shackleton sat in behind them at times and Kalvin Phillips just pulled the strings which allowed the front three to attack and get in behind Salford.

“As the game wore on and they started getting in behind, that’s when he really came into his own.

“You can see that’s his game, you can see that he’s going to be full of goals.”
