Arsenal are sending a chef round to cook for Emile Smith Rowe every night to keep their star playmaker off the Nandos and chocolate. Mikel Arteta has taken direct action to ensure his No 10 has a healthy body, leaving the 21-year-old to focus on the mental side – overcoming his fear of crowds!
The 21-year-old is hoping to make his debut against Albania on Friday in front of tens of thousands at Wembley.
Although on more than one level he admits he did not always have the stomach for such battles.
“I wasn’t eating great, I wasn’t drinking that well, before games I wasn’t really that hydrated,” Smith Rowe admitted.
“The rules were always strict but I didn’t really listen to be honest, I think that’s where I went wrong.
“I like Nandos a lot. Maybe that’s killing me a little bit. And chocolate.
“But now I’m listening, all the time. I’ve tried to cut out chocolate and takeaways as much as I can.
“I’m always eating from home now. The club have sorted me out with a chef, Chris, who comes to my house now.”
His mum Fiona gets fed too in return for giving over her kitchen each evening.
“He’s got a couple of pasta dishes and that’s good – carbs and stuff,” Smith Rowe said. “I didn’t used to like fish but now I am into it. Salmon and stuff.”
