Arsenal fans love Colchester defender’s Gunners message after Tottenham loss – ‘Legend’ | Football | Sport

Colchester produced a huge upset on Tuesday night when they beat on penalties to move into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

After the game had finished goalless, despite Tottenham having 19 attempts at goal, Spurs duo Christian Eriksen and Lucas Moura failed to convert their opportunities from the spot, as Colchester went on to win 4-3 on penalties.

And after the game Colchester defender Cohen Bramall, who joined the club from this summer, took to to express his delight at the victory.

“What an absolute battle, Colchester is absolutely rocking!” Bramall tweeted.

“THE NIGHT IS OURS … still got red and white in me as well.”

And his message was greeted by jubilation from Arsenal supporters.

One Arsenal fan replied to Bramall’s tweet with: “Haha, legend Cohen!”

While another said: “Once a Gunner always a Gunner, thanks Cohen.”

League Two Colchester have now knocked out two Premier League clubs, after they had also dispatched Crystal Palace on penalties in the second round of the cup.

And several fans even credited former Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger, for his role for bringing Bramall to the Emirates back in 2017 when the club signed him from non-league side Hednesford Town.

As one fan tweeted: “Bought Bramall so we could sell him to Colchester so they will eliminate Tottenham from the competition… Arsene wenger has done it again”

While another added: “Arsene wenger masterclass again, took you from non league to turn you into a gunner knowing you’d end up playing for Colchester vs Spurs, only to knock Spurs out, what can I say ARSENE WENGER LADIES AND GENTLEMEN.”

And after the game Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino admitted he was disappointed his side couldn’t convert their chances on the night.

“Colchester made a fantastic game, it was difficult. We are so disappointed we could not score in 90 minutes,” Pochettino said.

“They beat Palace on penalties too, that can happen. That’s the beauty of the competition, always something can happen.

“We wanted to go further but we are out.”
